Due to the rising fire hazard conditions Sturgeon County has put in place a “Fire Restriction” effective 12:00 pm, April 22, 2023. . • No new burn permits will be issued. • All current fire permits issued are suspended until further notice. This includes burn barrels and incinerators. • All outdoor fires presently burning, whether set under the authority of a fire permit or not, are required to be extinguished. • Firework permits for low hazard/family fireworks issued are suspended. No new firework permits will be issued. • Use of exploding targets and tracer rounds are prohibited.
Use of backyard fire pits used for Warming or Cooking, Propane BBQ’s, Portable Propane Fireplaces and Propane Heaters are still permitted under this restriction. When extinguishing backyard fire pits remember to soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch.
Sturgeon County urges everyone to use extreme caution when working or driving in grassy areas; be mindful of hot exhaust and keep vehicles clean and free of debris as smoldering debris can fall off and start fires.
This restriction does not apply to the use of ATV’s or OHV’s.
Note: These restrictions also apply within the Town limits of Bon Accord, Legal and Redwater.
