Tax Notices

Why did I get two copies of my tax notice?

The Town sends out a Combined Assessment and Tax Notice, which includes both your property’s assessed value and your tax amount. Provincial legislation requires that each person listed on the property title receive their own copy of the assessment.

Our system is set up to recognize when there’s more than one property owner, so it prints a notice for each person as required. However, it isn’t able to check whether both people share the same mailing address—so even if the notices are identical, it sends them separately.

Manually sorting and combining those notices would take a lot of extra staff time and actually cost more. So, to stay efficient and keep costs down, we let the system handle the mailing process.

On an administrative note, we are still learning our new system, and we will explore potential solutions for next year.

If you have any additional questions about your tax notice, please contact the Town office at 780-921-3550 or info@bonaccord.ca.

Fire Restriction Notice

https://www.albertafirebans.ca/

THE FIRE BAN HAS BEEN MOVED TO A FIRE RESTRICTION:

Effective 09:00 am, May 21, 2025, Town of Bon Accord has put in place a “Fire Restriction”. No new burn permits will be issued. All current fire permits (including those for burn barrels and incinerators) issued are suspended until further notice. All outdoor fires presently burning, whether set under the authority of a fire permit or not, are required to be extinguished.

- Firework permits for low hazard/family fireworks issued are also suspended. No new fireworks permits will be issued. Use of exploding targets and tracer rounds are also prohibited.
- Use of backyard fire pits used for Warming or Cooking, Propane BBQ’s, Portable Propane Fireplaces and Propane Heaters are still permitted under this restriction.
- This restriction does not apply to the use of ATVs or OHVs.

The Town of Bon Accord urges everyone to use extreme caution when working or driving in grassy areas, be mindful of hot exhaust and keep vehicles clean and free of debris as smoldering debris can fall off and start fires.
