Boards and Committees

Are you looking for a way to get involved in the community? We invite applications from residents who are interested in serving on the following Committees and/or Boards:

Parks and Trails Committee 

The Parks and Trails Committee is seeking new volunteer members. Parks and trails infrastructure is permanent and provides a significant quality of life and value for the community. The purpose of the Committee is to provide recommendations to the Town of Bon Accord Administration and Council on the development of parks and trails within our community. Term of office is determined at the time of appointment to the Committee. This is a temporary Committee of Council, therefore, once the Committee has fulfilled its mandate, it will be dissolved.

Meeting Frequency: 4x per year (quarterly), based on member availability. Approx. 2 hours per meeting.

Positions available:

Members from the Community at Large - Applicants must reside in the Town of Bon Accord. 

1 Youth Representative - Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18; must reside in the Town of Bon Accord and be attending Junior or Senior High School.

Community Services Advisory Board 

The Community Services Advisory Board is seeking new volunteer board members. The purpose of the Board is to provide recommendations to the Town of Bon Accord Administration and Council on community events and programs, and to help promote citizen awareness of the importance of these programs. Programs include those focused on preventative social services, recreation, and culture and are directed at residents of all ages. Meetings are held 4 (four) times per year.

Positions available:

1 Youth Representative - Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18; must reside in the Town of Bon Accord or rural Sturgeon County, Division 5; and be attending Junior or Senior High School. Youth members are appointed for a one (1) year term.

1 Rural Resident - Applicants must reside in rural Sturgeon County, Division 5. Term of office is two (2) years.

Dark Sky Ad Hoc Committee

Dark Sky advocates contribute ideas to the Town's International Dark Sky Community designation. This volunteer-based commitee is a sub-commitee of Council via the Community Services Advisory Board and will have at least three (3) meetings per calendar year.
