FOIP Requests

What is FOIP?

FOIP stands for the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  The Town is a public body, therefore, it is subject to the FOIP Act for records that are under our custody and control. When a request for information is received from members of the public, businesses, organizations, etc., the Town will consult the FOIP Act.

There is also a Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulation.

Fees

To access General Information, there is an initial fee of $25.00.  Payment of this fee is required before processing of the request can begin and should be included with your Request to Access Information form.  If your request is for Personal Information, this initial fee is waived.

All fees are in accordance with Schedule 2 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulation. The FOIP Coordinator will be in contact with you to advise of any fees that may be required.

Timelines

While the Town of Bon Accord is committed to responding to and completing all FOIP requests as quickly as possible, the FOIP act allows for up to 30 days for a response.  In some cases an extension may be necessary.
