Block Parties
Block parties are a great way to meet your neighbours. Come together with food, music, games, and more!
Some block party ideas include:
- Backyard block party - Instead of closing the street, this is a great option for hosts on arterial roads.
- Block parties with street closures - if you are not located on an arterial road, this is a great option allowing a central location for kids to play and adults to mingle.
- Pot luck-style food - this could be a good option if there are allergies
- BBQs
- Game night - board games or yard games like horseshoes, bocce ball, etc.
- Theme parties where attendees have the option to dress up or bring a special type of food
Reminders:
- Remember to encourage neighbours to lock their doors during the event. You may trust your neighbours, but your guests' preoccupation on the party makes homes susceptible to theft.

- Water balloons are fun, but leave behind lots of plastic. Try beach soaker balls, water blasters, or even sponges or crocheted "balloons" with a few refill stations placed around the street. Less waste AND less to clean up. Win-win!
