Volunteer Opportunities

Communities in Bloom are currently seeking volunteers within our community. Please see below message from the CiB committee about the opportunity:

Bon Accord’s Communities in Bloom committee members are local volunteers dedicated to improving and enhancing the beautification of our town. They meet weekly to maintain the many flower beds in town and Heritage Rose Garden.

Communities in Bloom is a national program Bon Accord participates in. We are evaluated yearly by a volunteer jury of trained professionals on the accomplishments of our entire community (municipal, private, corporate and institutional sectors, citizens) on six key criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant & Floral Displays.

We are looking for a few more volunteer gardeners to join our existing members. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge or learn about plants and gardening and meet other gardeners in town. Just one hour per week!

All members are invited to participate on adjudication day – an exciting day to show off our town, lunch with neighbours and then a great dinner afterwards to celebrate the hard work.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Christina Fedorak, Community Services Coordinator, at cscoordinator@bonaccord.ca or 780-921-3550.
Please keep in mind that CiB committee is an independent volunteer committee and not a committee of council.
